As the student group, we are charged with providing practical ways of connecting with project participants. What tools on TIGEd would you use? How would you use them?

I think that a look through their profile could be a good idea, because it lets them see connections they might have with you, like, "Oh, this guy also came from Shanghai!" or "Hey look, she's French" or wherever. And people connect better if they have shared interests right?
This discussion board/forum is a great way to connect with a large group since everyone can see the messages and can add on with their own input. Using the messages function is also a great way to communicate with other people only more privately.

Can someone try the maps feature? How do you think this could used in the water project?
With the maps feature people can share where they have been and visited. They can then experience the water issue in person and discuss it with others. For example if someone wanted to know how the water crisis is down in South America they could look through their colleagues map profiles and see if anyone has been down to South American. If someone has they can share their opinions on how the water situation was down there.

I think a good resource on this website is the discussion board itself, or the blogging feature, because it lets people get their opinions out there and strategies for the future projects, and they can discuss steps as a group.
actually... i just figured ou that if you double click on a country you can find out more information about that place. This encourages more people to get involved in various ways.

I think reading any blog posts someone may make, or their replies to threads that are relevant to your common interest will help to continue the contact and discussion even after they return to China/are in China. The point of the project is to bridge the common goal between our two countries. To solidify that bridge, and ensure the overall success of this project in the future it is important that we don't forget about why we are doing this. Often you may meet someone at a conference and create big plans for when you return to your schools about how you can collaborate on projects together, but we can get lazy and communication can slow. This kills projects. To make sure that this project is successful, we must remember the importance of the project, and all ends must be committed to furthering the collaboration.
^And with features like this forum and able to get info about other countries and places, I think this objective can be meet
Also, I think using the gallery for pictures can be a great tool. It's great to share photos of progress or concerns to give more of a perspective on what the project is looking like so far. It's also great to see all of your beautiful faces ^_^
The files tool can also be useful for analyzing, sharing, and interpreting data, or information.
